Yarrawonga Medical Clinic
Yarrawonga Medical Clinic is a welcoming rural practice offering a wide range of clinical services. GPs at the clinic provide after-hours services through the Urgent Care Centre at Yarrawonga Health, community health education for antenatal and youth health needs, as well as care for two local nursing homes.
Two Division 1 nurses support the doctors in treating patients with acute or chronic conditions and the clinic enjoys close co-operation with all local Allied Health Services and visiting medical specialists.
“Working at Yarrawonga Medical Clinic has been an exceptional learning opportunity as it truly covers the full breadth of general practice. My days are a mixture of general practice consults, hospital rounds, emergency attendances and residential aged care visits so there has never been a dull moment. The clinic staff are also lovely to work with and extremely supportive.” (Dr Chris Pring)
Senior GPs at the clinic all have a role to play in the education of registrars. Supervisor Dr Margi Gould conducts the formal teaching, with all registrars taught by her achieving Fellowship.
“It has taken me 37 years to hone my skills to where I am now and I am still practicing….(I) am spending more time on skin cancer surgery, teaching and leadership… registrars from our practice are now amongst (the) leaders in our field and we helped them…along the way to their professional and personal fulfilment.” (Dr Clyde Ronan)
