Wathaurong Health Service provides medical care to the local and transient Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and their families. The medical service works closely with other Wathaurong community services to provide well balance social and emotional care.
There is an active and proud Aboriginal community in Geelong and surrounds. Working at Wathaurong will enable registrars to gain insight in the rich culture of the local Aboriginal people, the Wathaurong people, and the difficulties faced by generations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in accessing appropriate healthcare.
Geelong is Victoria’s second largest city, only an hour from Melbourne, located on Corio Bay within a short drive from popular beach-front communities on the Bellarine Peninsula as well as being the gateway to the famous Great Ocean Road, which begins just south of Geelong at Torquay.
