Updates for new registrars

A warm welcome to registrars beginning GP training in 2022.

The below information has generally been covered during orientation and is provided here as a reminder. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your region’s REAPS.

  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) applications are only required if you haven’t completed 52 weeks in hospital on the training program. Applications are due 1 March
  • Variation to training hours – If you’re looking to vary your training hours, please review our Training Obligations Policy and Procedure TR003. You can only vary training hours once per semester and must provide 20 days notice
  • Leave from the AGPT program – If you need to take leave from the AGPT program, please review our Leave from AGPT Program Policy and Procedure, and lodge applications for approval prior to taking leave.  Note:
    • There is no provision for “study leave” – use your annual leave or apply for Category 2 leave from the AGPT program
    • You must notify MCCC and apply for any leave without pay
  • Registrar feedback is mandatory for Fellowship, and is required once per semester
  • Recipient Created Tax Invoices (RCTIs) must be signed off for your practice to be paid to host you – please check your SWAN to-do list regularly
  • External Clinical Teaching Visits (ECTVs) – please try to be flexible in your availability for visiting supervisors and medical educators
  • Keep an eye out for the Registrar Intentions Survey mid-year – this is important to complete
  • If you are planning to complete an Extended Skills post in 2023, you must have submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI) to your REAPS by June 2022. Take a look at our Extended Skills Post EOI Flowchart for more information
  • Emails: we commit to only send important emails – please take the time to read them as they contain key information.
