Mildura – Sunraysia Medical Centre – TT 3-4

Sunraysia Medical Centre in Redcliffs – 15 minutes from Mildura – offers a modern medical facility, purpose-built in 2018. The practice is fitted with the latest in high-quality technology and diagnostic and medical equipment.

The clinic offers a full range of general practice services, including health checks for adults and children, management of acute illness, injury and chronic diseases, minor surgical procedures, immunisations for children and travelers, women’s health, pregnancy care and wound care.

The highly-qualified GPs have a wide range of special interests, offering registrars excellent learning opportunities. These include women’s health, skin cancer, mental health, preventative medicine and chronic disease management. An echocardioagram specialist and pathology are onsite, together with a number of allied health professionals including a podiatrist, diabetic educator and audiologist.

Highly-experienced medical professionals work together in this busy medical clinic, to restore and maintain the health of their patients, working to create a plan to manage each patients’ unique situation, focusing on quality of life. This includes conditions such as diabetes, asthma, osteoporosis and heart disease.

Registrar learning opportunities include clinic-based surgical procedures, chronic disease management, family medicine, pre-employment medicals, hearing tests, occupational health, men’s and women’s health, aged care, wound management, travel medicine, child and maternal health services and mental health. Clinical meetings and journal club are also available and registrars will be well-supported in a friendly, welcoming environment.

GPs regularly visit nursing home residents and have admitting rights to Mildura Health Private Hospital for inpatient care. Urgent care or inpatients are referred to Mildura Base Hospital.

Dr Mehdi Sanati Pour has been a GP supervisor for many years and has mentored many GP registrars and junior doctors. He has Diploma of Skin Cancer Medicine and Fellowship of Advanced Rural General Practice (FARPGP) in mental health.

Dr Paige Thompson is a lecturer at Monash Medical Centre with special interest in medical education, preventative medicine and women’s health.

Dr Afshan Shariff has special interest in women’s health and skin cancer management.

Mildura is also known as the centre of Victoria’s food bowl and is a major producer of citrus fruits and supplies 80 per cent of Victoria’s grapes.
