What is Dr JuMP?
Dr JuMP is a coordinated medical mentoring program for regional Victoria, designed to build valuable mentoring relationships that support all stages of training and professional development.
Dr JuMP supports medical students, junior doctors, rural GPs and GP proceduralists who live and work in rural communities. Mentors and mentees are encouraged to register for the program and make a difference to the healthcare community.
If you are a GP supervisor, GP, or other specialist doctor working in regional Victoria, please consider signing up to the program. GP trainees could also consider mentoring a medical student. If you are a medical student or GP trainee, you are also welcome to join as a mentee.
MCCC rural manager, Anna Stephenson, said we have exciting plans to grow and develop Dr Jump’s mentees in 2022.
“Over the past year, our Dr JuMP community has more than doubled in size to over 150 members. Our 70 medical mentors are highly valued and in great demand. But we need more mentors.” she said.
“Is this you? Ideally you have one hour a month to connect and help grow one of our mentees online or in-person (COVID- 19 restrictions permitting).
“Our mentees are largely 2nd and 4th year medical students and GP registrars currently in training right across regional and rural Victoria. And a shout out to all our MCCC registrars, consider how a Dr JuMP mentor might help you to navigate your training and grow your career.
“Join our expanding regional medical mentoring community and help to grow our next generation of rural and regional Victorian GPs.”
