Shearwater Medical Clinic is a new General Practice established in 2021 to help serve the community of Port Fairy. The principle GP, Dr Cameron McPherson (FACRRM, FARGP, FRACGP, Grad Dip RANZCOG), opened the clinic with the goals of providing a high quality practice to the community, the aged care facility, acute care (11 hospital beds) and also the new Urgent Care Centre at Moyne Health Service. This setting provides an exciting and stimulating career, drawing on the extended skills required by rural generalists. The clinic has the values of teamwork, excellence and innovation driving it’s goals of improving the health of the community. One of the clinic’s priorities is support of a low carbohydrate/ketogenic lifestyle to improve community health (targeting metabolic syndrome, diabetes and obesity), and they have developed a structured program to achieve this. The clinic nurse, Linda McPherson, is a passionate innovator in chronic disease management and practice nursing. Being a small clinic, the team have been passionately developing programs to ensure clinical excellence, efficiency and outcomes, through high quality services. We are passionate about general practice, and look forward to our team growing.
