Supervisor special interests
Supervisors at Eaglehawk (main site) and Kangaroo Flat (branch practice site) are
1. Gary Bourke, lead GPS, who still works in Emergency Medicine (in Bendigo and in NT), and has interests in paediatrics, O&G, AoD, Integrative medicine and Health Informatics. Gary works as part of the Doctors in Secondary Schools program. At Kangaroo Flat, Gary works alongside three specialist community-based paediatricians, Merryn Redenbach, Tristan Pawsey and Anne Dawson. Gary is a former GP Obstetrician (up to 2014) who remains accredited for shared antenatal care with Bendigo Health. The Raphael Centre (Mental health for families with children under 4 years old) is a St John of God service which is co-located at our BCHS Kangaroo Flat site, and includes a visiting psychiatrist and psychologist. Gary spends Mondays at Eaglehawk, Tuesdays at Kangaroo Flat and Thursdays at a local school.
2. Ratna Subendran, with special interest in Women’s Health and also refugee health
3. Jas Singh, with special interest in complex chronic disease and developing interest in Blood-borne viruses
These three do most of the formal one to one teaching
4. Haris Noor, with special interest in LGBTIQ Health, Child and Youth Health, Musculoskeletal Medicine and Men’s Health
We also have some doctors who are past supervisors and still available for advice
5. Mick Tenni, with special interest in Men’s Health
6. John Togno, with special interest in AoD, especially Medication-Assisted Treatment of Opioid Dependence (MATOD) and Hepatitis C.
John works on Wednesdays at Kangaroo Flat.
At BCHS, we consider all staff as part of the supervision team, and have regular shared small group teaching by our newest Supervisor, Haris Noor, as well as by various senior RNs.
We also involve GPRs in the monthly Medical Practice clinical meeting, and make other educational opportunities available from time to time.
General Facilities / Services
We are open to full time (6 months in either 2021.1 or 2021.2 or 12 months) and part-time (12 months) applications.
If you have special interests in Women’s Health, Sexual Health, AoD, Mental Health or paediatrics, there is opportunity to use your skills and develop your skills further.
