Practice Experience Program (PEP)

RACGP PEP in partnership with MCCC
Applications now open

MCCC are pleased to be supporting the RACGP in the delivery of the Practice Experience Program (PEP), a self-directed education program designed to support non-vocationally registered (non-VR) doctors on their journey to RACGP Fellowship.

Applications for the PEP are now open, closing Thursday 22 October, 2020.  Visit RACGP PEP for information on how apply to the Standard Stream and the Specialist Stream.

Standard Stream

The PEP Standard Stream is the pathway to Fellowship of the RACGP (FRACGP) for non-VR doctors who do not hold specialist qualifications. Allocation of places will be informed by factors including practice location and years of Australian general practice experience (GPE). Please note the program is designed for doctors working in MMM2 to MMM7 areas.

Specialist Stream

The PEP Specialist Stream is the pathway to Fellowship of the RACGP (FRACGP) for international medical graduates (IMGs) with overseas specialist qualifications. It replaces the Specialist Recognition Program (SRP). The RACGP no longer awards Fellowship ad eudum gradum. SIMGs working towards Fellowship on the PEP Specialist Stream will be issued a PEP 3GA provider number by the RACGP.

From 2022 onwards, it will be compulsory for all doctors to complete an RACGP approved program in order to be eligible to sit the RACGP exams.

Unsure if PEP is right for you or GPs at your clinic?

Listen to Dr Rebecca Stewart (GP and Clinical Lead in Pathways, Information and Data Systems with the RACGP) discuss PEP on a recent episode of the Practice THAT podcast (right).

Dr Stewart covers PEP participant eligibility and the differences between PEP and AGPT pathways, as well as the support and education that practices involved in PEP may need to provide participants.

Testimonial – PEP participant       Dr Ankur Patil
Thanks to the MCCC GP Training team and the PEP admin team for supporting and assisting in completing my PEP course. PEP has allowed me to be a safer doctor. Gave me access to the RACGP Fellowship Program Provider Number. Helped me in reducing my RACGP membership fees to the registrar category. Has prominently helped me develop further knowledge in preparing for the RACGP Fellowship Exams. I would recommend a PEP course for those who require support in preparing for the RACGP Fellowship Exams.
Dr Ankur Patil, (MBBS, MPH) General Practitioner, Epping, Victoria.
