AGPT program structure
The structure of the AGPT program depends on your fellowship choice. The chart (right) shows the fellowship pathways of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP and FARGP) and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM). You may choose to pursue a fellowship with one college, or both as a dual pathway registrar.
For a simple explanation of the rural, general and rural generalist pathways see here.
Overseas trained doctors and foreign graduates of Australian medical schools may be subject to the 10 year moratorium and can only apply to train in specific rural areas, see more here.
Please note: If you apply to undertake part-time training, this will extend the length of your training.
