Horsham – Lister House Medical Clinic – TT 3-4

With more than 80 years’ experience providing medical services, Lister House is Horsham’s largest GP clinic and provides a range of services including including men’s and women’s health, minor surgery, maternal health, paediatrics, chronic disease management, counselling, diabetes education and management, dermatology and cardiology. The clinic partners with allied health professionals and visiting specialists including cardiologists, paediatricians and a psychiatrist.

As part of their commitment to providing comprehensive medical services, doctors visit Wimmera Base Hospital and local nursing homes/retirement villages offering patients a continuum of care and giving GP trainees opportunities to improve their clinical and procedural skills, while experiencing true cradle-to-grave medicine.

Committed to fostering the development of future doctors, the clinic offers GP trainees and medical students a broad range of training opportunities. Many of these registrars remain GPs with the clinic after fellowship, enjoying the wide scope of practice the clinic offers and the region’s lifestyle.

GP trainees are well-supported by a highly-skilled team of medical practitioners, health professionals, visiting specialists and practice staff. Registered nurses offer assistance with theatre, immunisations, travel medicine, diabetes management,  chronic disease management, wound care, midwifery and care plans and assessments. Additional learning opportunities for GP trainees include small group learning, clinical meetings and assisting with procedures.

Two highly-experienced supervisors offer mentoring and support to GP trainees. Their special interests include paediatrics, obstetrics and geriatrics, however the large team of clinic doctors, who have gained experience both in Australia and overseas, have a broad and varied range of special interests.

These include sports medicine, substance abuse treatments, surgical management of skin cancers, regenerative medicine technology, Sleepwise, anaesthetics and neurosurgical anaesthesia, dermatology, women’s and family health/planning, Aboriginal health, emergency medicine, psychiatry and community medicine.

Although not a GP supervisor, Dr Mihaela Guguila has an impressive background and is at the forefront of regenerative medicine in Victoria. Dr Guguila worked in the UK as a consultant surgeon, chief of surgery and CEO in a teaching hospital, as well as senior doctor in emergency medicine.

Dr Guguila is highly trained in the diagnosis and medical/surgical management of skin cancers and has a special interest in aesthetic treatments and regenerative medicine. Dr Guguila has completed further studies and training in PRP and stem cells treatment, with prestigious doctors from the United States and is set to apply the new regenerative medicine technology in Horsham and Melbourne.
