This practice will accept applications from Training Term (TT) 3-4 registrars.

Elmore Medical Practice is part of the St Anthony Family Medical Practice group and promotes preventative medicine for the health and wellbeing of its community. It also provides a range of high-quality services to around 4,000 people in the surrounding district.

These services include ECGs, cervical screening tests, health assessments, minor operations and procedures, pathology, MoleMap, travel medicine, spirometry, mental health and a range of allied health services and community support groups.

Registrars can advance their clinical and procedural skills by assisting with these procedures, together with 24 hour blood pressure and holter monitoring, using the Doppler Ultrasound and Laser machine and paediatric oximeter, electronic ear stringing as well as wound suturing and dressing. The practice is also registered for yellow fever and Q fever vaccinations. A team of highly-skilled practice nurses assist with procedures, immunisations and also prepare health assessment plans for chronic disease management.

If you have an interest in dermatology, the highly-advanced MoleMap technology will be of particular interest. This technology can take high-definition photographs of suspicious skin conditions or lesions, including moles, scars and ulcers, enabling doctors to efficiently monitor, assess and remove these lesions where necessary.

A hospital affiliation with Rochester and Elmore District Health Service (REDHS) means doctors have VMO rights at the 10-bed acute inpatient unit, delivering a diverse range of services to the local community. These include acute services, primary care, home nursing, residential aged care, onsite pathology and a range of allied health services.

A passionate GP Supervisor, Dr Patrick Nzegwu, lives in Elmore with his family and is always happy to spend extra time with registrars. Dr Nzegwu has also completed additional courses to further his knowledge in the medical field including emergency medicine, X-Ray and mental health training.

The practice enjoys having registrars, thriving on being a teaching practice and supporting their registrars’ health, wellbeing and training needs. Registrars have access to a range of support including an EAP program and friendly colleagues who are always available to help. Plus the practice manager’s door is always open.

Visiting specialists present at regular training sessions, which is an excellent educational opportunity for registrars. There’s always time for questions and meals are provided.  Additional learning opportunities include small group learning and clinical meetings.
