AGPT 2017 selection – overview and key dates

MCCC GP Training will select and offer applicants a training place in the AGPT programme on the basis of:

  • National Assessment score
  • Completion of an “Application to train with MCCC” questionnaire in which applicants selected by MCCC will be asked to preference the MCCC sub-region of their choice for and demonstrate their commitment to:
    • the region covered by MCCC GP Training
    • diversity of experience working in rural general practice (applicable to Rural Pathway registrars only).

Key Dates

12 August : MCCC emails questionnaire to all shortlisted applicants.

16 August: Due date for return of questionnaire by shortlisted applicants. Note: applicants who fail to respond by this deadline will not be considered for placement.

25 August: MCCC offers training place to selected applicants who will then have seven days to accept or reject the offer.

Note: MCCC will place any unsuccessful applicant into a reserve pool. If a training place becoming available, MCCC will offer a place to the next most suitable applicant in the reserve pool until all AGPT allocated places are filled.

2 September: Due date for selected applicants to respond to offer of training made on 25 August.

12 September: MCCC to advise AGPT of final registrar selections for 2017

Pre match offer in areas of workforce shortage

MCCC is committed to ensuring that areas of workforce shortage are supported in both rural and urban areas.

MCCC will offer shortlisted AGPT 2017 applicants the opportunity to express an interest in working in a location that MCCC nominates as an area of workforce shortage via the questionnaire *

Applicants who indicate this interest will be offered the opportunity of interviewing at identified practices during Stage 3 of the selection process.

Based on the outcome of this interview, MCCC may offer an applicant a Pre-Match which ensures placement in the 2017 AGPT program.

If successful, the applicant will be required to work at the chosen practice for a minimum of six months.

Key Dates

19 – 22 August: Applicants who indicate an interest in working in an area of workforce shortage attend Pre-Match Interviews with nominated practices

24 August: Outcomes of Pre-Match interviews notified to applicants
