Our board and executive

A board of directors, elected from our organisation’s membership, governs our organisation, registered name: Murray City Country Coast GP Training Limited, known as MCCC GP Training or MCCC.
Our board comprises a broad-based membership, including representatives from:
- Training practices within our geographical footprint
- Universities with clinical schools within our footprint
- Victorian hospitals within our footprint
- GP Registrars Australia
- Royal Australian College of General Practitioners
- Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine
- GP Supervisors Australia.
Directors are elected for a two-year term at the company’s annual general meeting and are eligible to re-stand for consecutive terms.

Qualifications: MBBS, DA, FACRRM, MSpMed GCHPE
Experience: Sue is a GP in Echuca-Moama and VMO at Echuca Regional Health. She is a director of the Rural Doctors Association Victoria and committee member for the Victorian Rural Generalist Program (Loddon Mallee). Sue’s previous roles include board member for ACRRM, RWAV and Echuca Regional Health, Supervisor Liaison Officer for Beyond Medical, Hub Educator at Echuca Regional Health for the University of Melbourne and Director of Intern Training at Echuca Regional Health. Sue is currently involved with the development of an education program for PGY1 and 2 doctors with the Victorian Rural Generalist Training Program. Sue is a co-opted director, the current MCCC Board chair and a member of the Nominations and Remuneration Committee.

Experience: Manisha is a GP at Ranges Medical. She is a board director for Murray PHN and member of the Women in General Practice Committee for RACGP. Manisha is clinical editor for West Vic PHN and medical lead for the Department of Health and Human Services’ Outbreak Management Team. Manisha is a past director of General Practice Registrars Australia and was formerly a member of the governance committee for Woodend Neighbourhood House. Manisha is a co-opted director of the Board and member of the Finance, Audit and Risk Management Committee.

Qualifications: BMed(Sci), MBBS, DRANZCOG, FRACGP, GAICD
Experience: Alison is a GP Obstetrician in Wodonga, north-east Victoria and was previously a director with Bogong Regional Training Network. Alison holds director positions with Murray Primary Health Network and the RACGP Victorian Faculty. Alison is also a member of the RACGP Expert Committee on Pre-fellowship Education, RANZCOG GP Obstetrician Advisory Committee, Consultative Council of Obstetric, Perinatal Mortality and Morbidity with Safer Care Victoria and member of the Maternity Services Committee at Albury Wodonga Health. Alison is a supervisor of registrars in her practice as well as GP obstetric registrars at Albury Wodonga Health. Alison is a member-elected director of the Board, deputy board chair and chair of the Nominations and Remuneration Committee.

Qualifications: MBBS, DipAnaes, DipObs, FACRRM
Experience: Phil is a GP based in Warrnambool and former director of Southern GP Training and Greater Green Triangle GP Education and Training. Phil is a member-elected director of the Board and member of the Finance, Audit and Risk Management Committee.

Qualifications: MBBS, FRACGP
Experience: Phil is a GP in Parkville and medical advisor with VACCHO. He is a former director of Victorian Metropolitan Alliance. Phil is a co-opted director of the Board, a member of the Nominations and Remuneration Committee and board representative on the MCCC Aboriginal Health Advisory Committee.

Qualifications: FCPA, GAICD, EMPA, PFIIA
Experience: Alok is a Fellow of CPA Australia, Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Executive Master of Public Administration (University of Melbourne), Professional Fellow Member of the Institute of Internal Auditors Australia and a qualified Cost and Works Accountant (India), with extensive leadership and management experience and proven high level analytical and strategic thinking skills. Alok is an experienced non-executive director (Finance) and a member of finance, audit and risk committees for not-for-profit organisations. Alok is a co-opted director of the Board, member of the Nominations and Remuneration Committee and chair of the Finance, Audit and Risk Management Committee.

Qualifications: MPH, GAICD
Experience: Sönke is the owner of Primary Projects Pty Ltd, a primary care consultancy. He is also the founder and executive director of Giz A Break, a registered health promotion charity that wraps mental and social wellbeing initiatives into an off-road touring format. He has worked in and with primary care for more than a decade, has led a large general practice and was formerly CEO of Goulburn Valley Medicare Local. Sönke is a committee member for Greater Shepparton. He is a co-opted director of the Board and member of the Finance, Audit and Risk Management Committee.

Qualifications: BSc, Dip App Child Psych, MPH, DHSc, MAICD
Experience: Meredith is the Deputy Head and Director of Research Training in the Department of General Practice, Melbourne Medical School at the University of Melbourne. She is a former director of Victorian Metropolitan Alliance. Meredith is also a recent co-chair of the Australasian Sexual Health Alliance, president elect of the Australian Society for Psychosocial Obstetrics and Gynecology and serves on the Australasian Contact Tracing Guidelines Reference Committee. Meredith is a member-elected director of the Board and chair of the Quality Assurance and Research Committee.

Qualifications: MBBS, FRACGP
Experience: Charles is a former MCCC Senior Registrar Liaison Officer (RLO) and currently acting as our RLO for the North West region. He is currently working with Sunbury Medical Centre after completing his Fellowship training in August 2020. Charles has previous hospital Medical Advisory Committee experience and is a committee member with the Australian Medical Association GP Trainee Advisory Committee. Charles is a teaching associate with Monash University and works as a Senior Medical Officer with Northern Health, Western Health and Alfred Health as well as undertaking assistant surgeon activities. Charles is also involved as a GP in the Doctors in Secondary Schools Program with Headspace. Charles is a co-opted director of the Board and a member of the Quality Assurance and Research Committee.
Meet our executive team
Our executive team comprises a broad cross-section of the business and medical communities. All are highly-skilled in their field with the experience to confidently lead our organisation into the future.

Greg McMeel
Greg is our Chief Executive Officer and Company Secretary. Prior to his appointment in January 2016, Greg was CEO for Southern GP Training and (from 2012) Greater Green Triangle GP Education and Training. In 2013-2014 he was the Chair of the Association of Chief Executives for GP Training across Australia.

Noula Spanos
Noula is our Chief Financial Officer. Prior to her appointment in July 2019, Noula was working in the private sector as Chief Financial Officer AsiaPac for Atex, an international software company.
Noula has worked as a senior finance executive in a broad range of industries and sectors.

Jacque Porter
Jacqueline (Jacque) is our Chief Operations Officer. With a background in human resources and process improvement, Jacque has worked in both the private and public sector in leadership roles across a range of industries including healthcare and education.

Dr Angelina Salamone
MBBS FRACGP
Dr Salamone is our Director of Medical Education and Training. She graduated from Monash University in 1987, starting her GP training with the RACGP in 1991 – enrolling in the then Family Medicine Program.
After fellowship she worked in a variety of general practices across Melbourne. She has taken on a number of other roles during her career, including:
- Senior Medical Educator with the VMA since 2011. Commenced in the role of Accreditation Medical Educator and then as Deputy Director of Training
- General Practitioner with over 23 years general practice experience including women’s health, travel medicine and occupational health
- Holding senior positions within the RACGP of:
– National Manager Educational Services
– National Manager Assessment
– Education and Development Officer Assessment and Practice Standards - Examiner for the RACGP since 1997 and more recently a QA examiner
- Victoria Faculty board member including the role of Deputy Chair
- Involvement with pre exam courses and previous involvement in Standard Setting for the AKT and KFP, and KFP marking
- PBA examiner
- RACGP representative on the PMCV accreditation panel
- Review team member in the Accreditation visits to RTPs with GPET.
