Open letter to supervisors, practice staff and GP trainees
The Department of Health will transition the management of the AGPT program to the GP colleges from 1 February 2023.
I appreciate this is an uncertain time in the GP training landscape, but want to assure you that our ongoing commitment to general practice training remains unchanged. Our team is committed to continuing to deliver high-quality education and training.
We recognise and appreciate the vital role you all play in GP training and how critical this is to the future of our communities’ healthcare. We offer you our unwavering support during this difficult time and will continue to advocate for a seamless transition to ensure as little disruption as possible to the training and delivery of the general practice training program.
The two colleges are currently in discussion with the Department of Health about their preferred models of training and the transition of the AGPT program. We will inform you of any updates regarding the transition process, as they come to hand.
Thank you for choosing, delivering and supporting GP training and the healthcare you provide to our local communities.
